I hear that representatives from all breed societies met this week in Athlone to discuss the ICBF – though noticeably secretaries of the breed societies were absent.
“There is disquiet among breeders in regard to ICBF,” one breeder who was at the meeting said. “They have concerns about the €uro-Stars and future of the beef industry, and want to make sure it doesn’t become a byproduct of the dairy industry,” he said.
Controversy has rumbled on between the ICBF and breed societies, with the Limousin Society recently suspending Whole Herd Performance Recording, and the Charolais Society raising their concerns over €uro-Star figures in the Oireachtas.
