Cattle prices are holding steady at Swatragh Mart, with sale numbers following seasonal trends at present.

Buyer demand continues to be most competitive on heavier cattle, with continental types selling to higher prices.

Store heifers sold to a top price of £915 for a 474kg Limousin animal which made 193p/kg. Top price per kilo was 206p/kg and paid on a 394kg Charolais animal.

Heifers weighing 400kg to 500kg sold upwards from £750, depending on cattle quality. Lighter heifers sold from £410 to £720.

Store bullocks sold to a top price of £1,160 for a 496kg Limousin animal, which equates to 234p/kg. This was followed by £1,090 paid on a 414kg Limousin animal, which sold to a sale-topping per kilo of 263p/kg.

Other noted prices for forward bullocks saw prices of £905 to £915 for cattle weighing around 500kg.

Lighter store bullocks weighing 320kg to 440kg sold from £625 to £820 per head.
