John Deere has recently announced it will be updating the 5R series for 2019.

The 5R series tractors are powered by four-cylinder Stage IIIB compliant 4.5-litre John Deere PWX engines. John Deere’s transport power management (TPM) system allows these engine to deliver an additional 10hp while being used for transport.

There are three transmission options in the new 5R series. The 5R tractors are fitted as standard with a 16/16 CommandQuad with four ranges and four powershiftable gears in each range. The other options available are a 16/16 CommandQuad and a 32/16 Command8 transmission, which has eight powershiftable gears. According to John Deere, the 32/16 Command8 transmission while in ECO mode will travel a top speed of 40km/h at 1759 engine rpm.

The updated 5R Series models are equipped with front-axle suspension and an optional mechanical cab suspension.

There will be a choice of mechanical or new E joysticks for loader operation. Both of these options are connected to the tractor seat. From 2019, the 5R series will be available AutoTrac and Isobus-ready.
