Camera at the mart attended the special sale of breeding ewe lambs at Armoy Mart on Monday. The sale is now firmly established as one of the mart’s premier sales of breeding sheep, attracting over 3,300 ewe lambs from north Antrim and the surrounding areas.

A full sale yard of sheep was met with fierce buying demand.

With a packed sale ring, bidding was brisk, with prices reaching a peak of £210 for the champion pen of prizewinning ewe lambs bred by Brendan and John Delaney.

The same breeders secured fourth place with another pen of sheep and sold 262 ewe lambs to a sale average of £121, with all lots clearing the £100 per head mark.

The second-prizewinning pen of lambs was awarded to Brian Mullan, with the third-placed lambs bred by John McNeill.

Mart manager Danny McAlister commented on the sale, saying that numbers are growing year on year, with more buyers attending the sale also.

He added that the quality of sheep was superb and this helped to underpin a terrific trade for ewe lambs of different breed type.
