The Council and Parliament will now enter a conciliation phase from 30 October to negotiate and decide a final EU budget.
This conciliation period will last until 19 November and based on past experience the final EU budget for 2019 will be in place by the end of the year.
Supports
In addition to reversing the cuts, the Parliament also added €50m in support for Member States affected by African swine fever, €15m for the fruit and vegetable sector and €6.5m for halting and reversing biodiversity loss.
EP rapporteur, Italian Socialist Daniele Viotti, called it an “ambitious budget” with which “we intend to tackle the great challenges for us and our continent: growth, solidarity between Member States but also solidarity with the citizens, as well as the issue of migration”.
