Around 760 farmers that currently receive an ANC payment will lose out under the new maps. The financial impact will be under €1,000 for over half of the farmers impacted, though a handful will lose payments in the region of €4,000.
Phasing out payments will be in place for 2019 and 2020. A rate of 80% of the 2007-2013 rates will be payable in 2019, with 20% due in 2020.
An independently-chaired appeals process will be available to affected farmers. The Department will be writing to relevant farmers in the coming weeks, and this letter will include details of the appeals process.

If a farmer has an appeal in process in relation to the eligibility of their land, the farmer should still apply for the Areas of Natural Constraint Scheme when the application process opens in 2019.
