Over 1,000 heavy bulls were loaded at Cork Port on Thursday for export to Libya.
The livestock carrier Sarah, has now departed and will arrive in early January.
The contract is being filled by Curzon Livestock and is the first to this market in over three months.
The bulls are a mix of continental cross breeds as well as Friesian, Angus and Hereford. The average weight is just over 420kg.
The shipment will bring cattle exports to Libya in 2018 to just over 5,500 head, double the number exported in 2017.
