Tipperary County Council has issued a warning about a scam involving conmen posing as agents or contractors employed by the council to cut hedges.
Landowners have allegedly been approached by the conmen, who tell them they are cutting hedges and trees on behalf of the council, for a payment from the farmer.
“Tipperary County Council wishes to inform the public that it has absolutely no involvement with these persons and has not employed their services in any capacity whatsoever,” the county council warned on its website.
