Dale Farm has teamed up with Kingshay dairy specialists to offer an advisory package aimed at encouraging more producers to monitor production costs.

The management package requires that the volume of milk sold, along with milk price and milk quality, is inputted monthly to form the basis for cost analysis.

This information is automatically inputted by Dale Farm.

The reports can be tailored to compare individual farms to the average Dale Farm supplier in terms of output, milk quality and margin over feed costs

All that is required from the farm is to input the number of cows in milk each month, along with the tonnage of concentrate fed.

Where concentrates are purchased through United Feeds, these records can be automatically inputted to the data set, leaving the farmer with little work to do.

Once uploaded, Kingshay’s advisory team analyses the information and produces a monthly breakdown of feed costs and herd performance.

The reports can be tailored to compare individual farms to the average Dale Farm supplier in terms of output, milk quality and margin over feed costs.

The reports will also be used to compile a more specialist regional, or county breakdown of costs.

The service is being offered free to all Dale Farm suppliers and a dedicated field staff officer has been employed to facilitate the service.

Around 110 farmers have signed up to date.
