The Glanbia/Kepak Twenty20 beef club has received enough expressions of interest to fill the target of 6,000 head in year one, the Irish Farmers Journal understands.

The new scheme is open to Glanbia Co-op members and Kepak suppliers, contract-rearing dairy beef calves bought from Glanbia suppliers. The deadline for entry was last Friday. The scheme provides an advance cashflow payment for finishers and all inputs must be brought from Glanbia.

It is not known how many of those who applied will also be rearing eligible suckler-bred calves alongside the minimum 25 dairy-bred calves required to enter the scheme.
