Farming forecast

Rain

Sadly, persistent rain has meant that the north and west of the country has had double the average rainfall over the last week.

Munster and Leinster “had less than 80% of the norm”, according to Met Éireann.

Temperatures

Average temperatures are expected to be below normal in the northwest of the country.

Drying conditions

Frequent showery episodes mean that drying will be good at times.

Field conditions

Soil deficits range from 20 to 40mm except for the northwest of the country where soils are near saturation.

Spraying

Spraying opportunities will be largely weather dependent but winds are expected to be moderate at most.
