Dairy Industry Ireland has called for ‘cool heads’ in negotiations to ensure that Irish dairy does not take a hit due to the Boeing aircraft tariff dispute.

Irish butter is a particular concern with Kerrygold regularly trumping the list of leading butter brands in the US.

“Dairy Industry Ireland are requesting that cool heads prevail on all sides of this process and any issues are referred to a WTO dispute resolution process that would form part of a negotiated and fair solution that would not impact from our perspective Irish processors, as well as farmers and consumers,” Conor Mulvihill, director of Dairy Industry Ireland said.

“We hope that an Taoiseach contributes to this as he meets president trump in the mid-west region today.”
