The Department of Agriculture is seeking to employ five new assistant agricultural inspectors in a number of specialised fields.
There are over 200 inspectorate staff employed by the Department across 20 different work areas ranging from assistant agricultural inspectors up to chief inspector.
The inspectorate is “responsible for bringing scientific expertise to bear on the development of the Irish agri-food sector, and on the negotiation and enforcement of European Union and national legislation relating to agriculture.”

Specialisations
Assistant inspector is the entry level grade and applications are sought for those specialised in:
Pest risk analysis.
Entomology (study of insects).
Bee health.
Nematology (study of worms).
Plant pathology (bacteriology)
Salary
Personal attributes required for all five positions include balanced judgement combined with the ability to communicate easily, ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards and effective teamworking.
The starting salary for the five positions is €33,387 and the positions are based in the plant health laboratory of Backweston Agri-Laboratories in Celbridge, Co Kildare.
