Bandon Co-Op butter has been recalled due to the presence of listeria monocytogenes.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland stated: “The above batch of Bandon Co-Op butter is being recalled due to the presence of listeria monocytogenes. The implicated batch was distributed to retail shops in Co Cork only.”

Listeria monocytogenes can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever and another of other symptoms.

Pregnant women, the elderly and babies are more vulnerable to infection.

Consumers are advised not to eat the butter which was sold in 454g size packs.
