A child safety wristband will feature again at this year’s National Ploughing Championships following its success in previous years. Over 40,000 of the bands will be handed out at all of the event entrances.
“With over 250,000 visitors expected to visit the site, these wristbands give reassurance and great peace of mind to all in attendance and add immensely to the visitor experience,” said NPA managing director Anna May McHugh.
FBD CEO Fiona Muldoon stated: “The popular initiative will help to protect our children at the largest event in the farming calendar.”

Contact numbers are written on the wristbands, aiding organisers in the case of the child wandering off amidst the large crowd. The initiative is a result of a partnership between the National Ploughing Association and FBD.
Child friendly event
On each day of the event there will be pony games, baking competitions, amusements and a chance to meet some sporting heroes. Children under 12 go free.
