Exports of pigmeat out of Europe were 20% higher in July 2019 than they were in July 2019, figures from the European Commission show.
Pigmeat exports were up €164m in July this year, trade statistics show.
Pigmeat was one of the driving forces in a very strong month for European agri-food exports.
Some €13.07bn worth of agri-food predicts were exported out of the EU in July this year, a 12.6% rise compared to July 2018.
Other exports
Milk powders and whey were also up by 30% or €102m, while spirits and liquers were up 12%.
In terms of export destinations for European food and drink, the USA showed the strongest growth (+20%), as well as China (+26%) and Japan (+37%).
Exports to Hong King, Libya and Turkey fell during the same period.
