A group of up to 20 farmers protested outside Kerry Group’s offices in Tralee on Wednesday over the lack of progress on milk price negotiations. In September, an independent arbitrator ruled that west Cork prices should be included when calculating Kerry Group’s “leading” milk price.
The arbitrator told Kerry Group and Kerry Co-op to negotiate with this ruling in mind and gave both sides three weeks to come to an agreement on milk prices. However, farmers say little progress, if any, has been made between both sides on the issue almost two months since the initial ruling.
