Kavanagh Meats, a small abattoir in Enniscorthy Co Wexford has been named by the Department of Agriculture as having breached carcase trim specifications.
It is the only abattoir found to have a non-compliance in 2019 after inspectors detected three carcases that were trimmed excessively in January. Each transgression carries a €200 on-the-spot fine.
The Department said any compensation payment made to the affected farmers was an issue between the farmer and the plant.
