The Kverneland Group Ireland hosted its fifth Future of Farming Expo at the Hub in Kilkenny on Thursday last. Attendees were treated to all the latest developments from the Kverneland, Vicon, Siloking and McConnel brands.

The Expo followed the recent Agritechnica show in Germany where the Kverneland Group exhibited a number of new machines and updates to its current ranges.

9464 mounted rake

The new 9464 mounted rake caught the eye of many punters. A fixed-width 6.4m (20ft) rake, it is mounted on the tractor’s three-point linkage. The big thing many would be concerned about is transport length. However, the firm claims it has a transport length of 3.8m, which it says is comparable to a four-furrow plough. This is one to keep an eye on over the summer months.

Enduro cultivator

Among the updated tillage machines were the Enduro and Enduro Pro series cultivators. The Enduro is made up of three tine rows each fitted with auto-reset Triflex tines (700kg release force). All offerings are mounted, with working widths ranging from 3m to 5m. Tine spacing is 285mm on rigid models and 270mm/275mm on the folding versions. Kverneland tells us that tine angle has been optimised for smooth flow and an optimum mixing of soil. A maximum working depth of 35cm is possible with the Enduro Pro and 30cm with the Enduro. Machines have a high under-beam clearance of 870mm. Multiple consolidation rollers are available for all soil types.

6500F Baler

Kverneland also exhibited its new fixed-chamber baler option, the 6500F. Fitted with a new 2.3m pickup reel, it has an extra pickup tine on either side. The new five-tine bar reel incorporates a cam track at both ends, while each tine bar is supported on four bearings. Tine length is also increased by 10mm. The baler’s intake capacity has been increased thanks to a larger diameter rotor.

The baler is available with either a 15- or 25-knife chopping unit. Rollers have been increased from 17 in the previous models to 18. It has two rollers in the bottom of the bale chamber for extra support for heavy silage bales.

It has a one-piece main input gearbox and split driveline.

5387 MT Butterfly mowers

With the introduction of the new heavy-duty 5387 MT butterfly mowers, Kverneland has expanded its triple mower offering to three units.

This unit has an 8.75m cutting width. It comes with the QuattroLink race car suspension concept.

The new 5387 MT model is based on the 5300 combination mower series. It consists of two 3.2m mowing units, each cutter bed having eight discs. Mechanical controls come as standard, with the option of a ComfortControl joystick with electro hydraulic folding and unfolding.

The conditioner plate can be adjusted at both the front and rear end, depending on the conditioning intensity required. The rotor is equipped with SemiSwing steel tines. The spreading vanes and swath plates come as standard.
