Acting Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has said his department is assessing the feasibility study of a once-off farm building relocation scheme in the wake of extensive flooding in the west and midlands.
He was responding to parliamentary questions from Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy, from Longford-Westmeath, and Independent TD Denis Naughten, from Roscommon-Galway, on Thursday 5 March.

Minister Creed said: “My Department continues to monitor the situation in relation to the floods, with significant flooding occurring of farmlands, but, in general, not of farmyards to date.”
He added: “A study to determine the feasibility of any future, once-off, targeted scheme for voluntary farm building relocation is being undertaken.
"My Department has evaluated a range of at risk farmyards, impacted by flooding, to see if any alternative remedial works can be undertaken to protect farm buildings at risk of flooding and is currently considering this evaluation.”
The Minister gave the same answer to Fianna Fáil deputy Eugene Murphy in September 2018 and again in April 2019.
