Earlier this week, the Department of Agriculture confirmed that farmers in an additional 73 townlands had been made eligible for payment under the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) scheme.

It comes following the conclusions of work by the independent ANC appeals committee which began in April 2019 after the ANC maps were redrawn. The appeals were on a townland basis and, in total, there were appeals submitted for 308 townlands.

The 73 successful townlands are listed in Table 1.

Farmers in these townlands will now be eligible to apply to the ANC scheme and receive tier three-level payments. Those farmers who were unsuccessful will receive 40% of their old payment for 2020 as it is gradually phased out.
