The continued flattening of farm payments has seen €11m in CAP funds move to mainly western counties.

Irish Farmers Journal analysis of direct payment figures recently published by the Department of Agriculture shows 11 counties benefitted from redistribution while 15 counties lost out.

The largest gain was in Co Mayo where direct payments increased to €70m, up €3m on the previous year.

Donegal and Kerry were also big winners increasing their budget share by €2.5m and €2.3m, respectively. The largest losses were in counties Cork and Tipperary where total allocations fell by €1.3m.

The details of all CAP payments made to Irish farmers was published last week.

Among the largest were two Louth farms associated with Larry Goodman, Braganstown and Glydee, with a combined payment of almost €400,000.

The direct payment of €216,768 to Godolphin Ireland UC, the thoroughbred racing operation of Sheikh Mohammed was the second highest individual payment.
