A farmer from Monaghan has been penalised by Revenue to the tune of €633,203.
Kieran Sherry, with an address in Alkill House, Castleshane, Co Monaghan was penalised after a court decision in relation to a non-declaration of income tax.
The most recent list of tax defaulters also includes agricultural contractor Michael O’Connell from Bawnmore, Ardpatrick, Kilmallock, Co Limerick. O’Connell is listed as a contractor and farmer, and was penalised €117,017.94 for under-declaration of capital acquisitions tax following a Revenue audit.

Agricultural consultant Vincent Costello was also forced to pay Revenue a total of €95,246.62. Costello has an address in New Inn, Co Galway and Revenue stated the penalties were due to a Revenue audit case that found an under-declaration of income tax, PAYE,PRSI and USC.
A number of other farmers and contractors also featured on the list for smaller amounts in relation to failing to provide tax returns and the misuse of green diesel.
