Over 90% of Irish consumers view dairy as being a key part of a sustainable diet, according to new research carried out by the European Milk Forum. A recent survey of over 2,000 Irish adults found that nine out of 10 consumers see dairy as being part of a sustainable diet, while just 10% of consumers see the carbon footprint of their food as a significant issue for addressing climate change.
The survey conducted by the European Milk Forum also found that almost 40% of consumers under 35 have increased their consumption of dairy products (milk, cheese and yoghurt) since the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown.
The survey also found that price continues to be the main driver of purchasing decisions. Almost half (46%) of consumers said price was the most important aspect when buying food. This was followed by nutritional value and healthiness as the second and third most important influences on purchasing decisions.
