The 35th Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) Winter Fair, due to take place at Balmoral Park outside Lisburn on Thursday 10 December, has been cancelled amid ongoing concerns around COVID-19, event organisers have confirmed.
Held in association with Danske Bank, the Winter Fair is NI’s premier dairy event, showcasing the best in dairy cattle breeding from across Ireland, as well as attracting hundreds of trade exhibitors and thousands of farmers.
“After several meetings, we were regretful to come to the conclusion that the Winter Fair would be unable to run as successfully as previous years,” said RUAS chief executive Alan Crowe, who also confirmed that the event will return on Thursday 9 December 2021.

RUAS had drawn up proposals for a socially distanced event this year, with no cattle show and visitor numbers limited to around 2,000. The plans were put to exhibitors, but with so much uncertainty ahead, it was difficult for companies to give a firm commitment at this stage.
