Sheep and cattle output price increased by 12.8% and 11.7% respectively in August 2020, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) has reported.

Calf output price was up in August also, with a 24.4% increase when compared with August 2019 figures. In contrast, wool prices fell by 66%.

On the input price side, August 2020 figures show that fertilisers and energy were down 11.8% and 9.3% respectively on August 2019.

The agricultural input price decreased by 3% in August 2020, while the agricultural output price increased by 5.8% compared with August 2019.

In August, mart managers told the Irish Farmers Journal that prices for weanlings were up and, in most instances, between €60 and €70 ahead of last year.
