In relation to the spread of TB by deer, the Department will assist groups of local farmers to coordinate culling actions to reduce deer density.
Farmers can continue to cull deer or have hunters cull deer during the open season subject to regulations set out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. They can continue to apply for section 42 licences to cull deer in the closed season, where there is evidence of crop damage by deer, such as grass poaching.
