DG Sante to address Farm to Fork's vision of sustainable diets
A member of the EU’s health agency, DG Sante, will outline what foods the EU plans to include in its sustainable diet guidelines under the Farm to Fork strategy.

Young farmers across Ireland and Europe will hear the European Commission’s health agency, DG Sante, outline what foods may be included as part of new guidelines for a sustainable diet under the EU’s Farm to Fork strategy.
Henk Westhoek, a senior civil servant in DG Sante, is one of the main speakers at the ‘One Health – from soil to society’ online conference, which is taking place on Friday 13 November and is organised by Macra, the EU young farmers association CEJA, Devenish Nutrition and the Lighthouse Farms Network in Wageningen University, the Netherlands.
DG Sante is charged with implementing the EU’s ambitious Farm to Fork strategy, which demands a major reduction in pesticide and fertiliser in European farming over the next decade.

The strategy will also seek to spell out what constitutes a sustainable diet in the future.
Friday’s webinar will be one of the first times a representative of DG Sante will speak publicly on the Farm to Fork plan and disclose what foods the EU may include in future ‘sustainable diet’ guidelines.
The online conference will also hear from Prof Alice Stanton from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dr John Gilliland from Devenish and Dr Cornelia Grace from the Project Heartland study.
