Farmers are to receive an up to date Beef Exceptional Aid Measure (BEAM) statement based on their 5% nitrogen reduction target from the Department of Agriculture.

IFA livestock chair Brendan Golden said these statements follow the IFA’s request in meetings with the Department to provide farmers with this update.

“These statements must provide farmers with their current status in relation to the 5% reduction target, and be supplemented with monthly updates on agfood.ie, allowing farmers to measure in real time if they are meeting their target.”

“It is critical every effort is made to support farmers in protecting this payment.”

Meanwhile this week, the The Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) launched a new calculator for HerdPlus members.

The online tool allows farmers to calculate and project stock numbers from now until the end of the BEAM on 30 June 2021.
