The board at Dale Farm has decided not to block suppliers diversifying into selling milk direct to the public through on-farm vending machines.

The issue came to a head back in December when the co-op sought to discourage its members from such ventures amid concerns these vending machines would be in direct competition with Dale Farm products placed in local shops.

The change of approach has been welcomed by the Ulster Farmers Union (UFU), with deputy president David Brown stating it will strengthen links between farmers and consumers.
