Letters detailing outstanding nitrates reduction figures will issue to all Beef Exceptional Aid Measure (BEAM) participants next week, the Department of Agriculture has confirmed.

Farmers participating in BEAM can also access their updated figures under the exceptional aid measures section of the agfood website. Figures available are accurate up until the 31 December 2020.

Derogation

Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) statements for the period January to the end of December are now available, with further updates due in the coming weeks.

Farmers at risk of breaching the organic nitrogen level of 170kg/ha or derogation farmers at risk of exceeding their limit of 250kg/ha of organic nitrogen should keep up to date with levels produced.

Those who exceeded the limits or came close to them in 2020 should engage with their advisor and consider applying for a derogation. The 2021 Derogation Application is currently open, and the closing date is 31 March.

Register

Farmers should note that the statements are based on bovine numbers and, as such, do not take into account other animals such as sheep, pigs, poultry, horses, etc.

Farmers not already registered with agfood can do so by clicking the register button.
