The second weekend of the famous Stirling bull sales took place this weekend with the Charolais and Simmental breeds the main attraction.
It proved a good day's trading for both with averages up on the year for both. The Simmental breed saw a total of 64 bulls sold to average £6,482, up £1,443 on the 2020 sale. This resulted in an 82% clearance to a top of 26,000gns (£27,300). Hitting the top price was Pistyll Kingsman 19 from Welsh breeders Messrs Francis. This June 2019-born bull is sired by Woodhall Ferrari with the dam going back to Omorga Volvo. Securing Kingsman was the Over Hill House pedigree herd.
In total six Simmental bulls made five figure sums.

While the Charolais breed did not reach the same highs, the breed did record the highest average over the two weekends of trading. In total 71% of Charolais bulls forward sold to average £7,121, up £347 on the year. Top of the 66 bulls sold was a 16,000gns call for Ballinlare Phantom from Wilson and sons. This 21-month-old bull is a son of Balthayock Justice and Goldies Carnival daughter Ballinlare Isis. Phantom was secured by the Newhouse and Elrick herds.
In total nine Charolais bulls sold for five-figure sums.
