Teagasc is at an advanced stage in discussions with Meat Industry Ireland to roll out a new suckler programme.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands that Teagasc has started the process of selecting 20 demonstration farms for the programme. Each regional unit has nominated farms and shortlisted farms are due to be visited in April where the final demonstration farms will be selected.
The programme will run for five years alongside the new Teagasc Signpost farm programme.

Teagasc is also planning to roll out a new dairy calf-to-beef campaign as part of a recommendation from the Agri-Food 2030 strategy.
The strategy for the campaign will be presented at the next Teagasc authority meeting, for approval and rolling out to farmers.
