Tyrone has long been home to some of the very best performers on the Irish country scene. That tradition shows no sign of abating, with a new generation of singers taking up the country baton.

Lisa McCrory releases her debut single, I Just Wanna Be A Country Girl, this week.

The 21-year-old hairdresser from Carrickmore is swapping the scissors for the microphone as she takes to the stages.

With her two brothers also in the music industry and both playing in bands across Tyrone, Lisa decided to pursue her own dream of becoming a country star. She cites Philomena Begley and Susan McCann as particular favourites.

Lisa recorded her new single under the guidance of Gerard Dornan at Hillside Studios. She very much enjoyed her debut rendition of her new single in the Kilmorey Arms, Kilkeel, last week, where she performed alongside Hugo Duncan, Boxcar Brian and Country Harmony.

Lisa will appear as support for Johnny Brady at the Patrician Hall, Carrickmore, on Friday, 15 August. She is also doing a guest spot with Country Harmony and Hugo Duncan on 25 August in Newcastle Centre, Co Down.
