In the week that Dolly Parton stole the show by a country mile at the Glastonbury Festival in England, Lisa McHugh has opted for Applejack, a song penned by Dolly, as her brand new single.

Dolly Parton has been a major role model in Lisa’s life in country music.

“I have seen Dolly in concert many times and she is just timeless. She has a voice filled with emotion when she sings and is still as popular today as when she first started.

“I think that really is the test of a great artist.”

Now living in Fermanagh and playing in venues all across Ireland and the UK with her band, Lisa is delighted with the response to her new single, taken from her forthcoming album which is due for release later this year.

Lisa is also excited by another project currently underway. She will present a series of new country shows on Sky 191 called On the Road with Lisa. These will be broadcast on Sunday nights in the autumn, featuring interviews and videos from some of the well-known names on the Irish country circuit.

Her single Applejack is now available for download on iTunes. CL
