Longford holds the key in IFA presidential nominations race
With just two hours to go before nominations close in the race to be the next IFA president, the small county of Longford is holding the balance of power.

As it stands, Joe Healy, Henry Burns and Flor McCarthy have lodged their respective nominations of five counties plus their own county.
Derek Deane and Tim O’Leary each have the support of five counties including their home county. This means that they each require one more county to endorse them.
There is only one county left to lend its support to either candidate and that is Longford.

Both men have been lobbying Longford chair Sean Conefrey to get the all-important sixth name on the nomination sheet but it remains to be seen who Conefrey will help out.
It could be a scenario where neither man gets in.
All eyes on the clock for 5.30pm.
