Details have emerged of a lorry accident in which the trailer of an articulated lorry carrying cattle overturned and crashed off the N25 road in Co Kilkenny near New Ross around 4pm on 17 February.

“It was a big salvage operation,” gardaí told the Irish Farmers Journal, with local farmers, knackery workers, New Ross fire brigade and a vet recovering dead and live animals.

More than 10 cattle died in the accident and the Department of Agriculture was notified. The site of the collision shows destroyed crash barriers where the trailer fell on railway tracks below the road.
