Denis Duggan has been selected as the man to replace Edmond Connolly as the new CEO of the young farmers’ organisation.

He has also been instrumental in the Innovation Arena run with the Irish Farmers Journal at the National Ploughing Championships in recent years.

Connolly served as Macra CEO from 2008 to May of this year but took up a role as manager for the South East Regional Skills Forum.

Duggan was on a shortlist of the three for the role but it is understood that he accepted the job on Thursday.
