Gardaí told the Irish Farmers Journal that the accident happened at 12.45pm in Upperchurch near Thurles, Co Tipperary. A man in his late 70s was killed and investigations have been launched by the HSA and the coroner to establish the circumstances of his death.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands that a tractor was involved in the accident, with indications that it may have crushed the farmer after he lost consciousness.
This is the ninth fatal farming accident recorded so far this year.
