Sheep prices are holding steady this week at livestock marts, despite increasing numbers being offered for sale.

Factory prices have increased slightly this week by 5c/kg to 10c/kg, bringing lamb prices to €4.90/kg at the top end of the market.

In the marts, factory agents are trying to keep a lid on prices by paying a general price range of €98 to €106 for 48kg to 58kg. Well-bred lambs with lowland breeding are selling from €102 and above.

Store lambs are holding firm despite reduced buying activity in certain regions of the country as grass supplies tighten. Prices for breeding hoggets have steadied at €140 to €170 but ewe lambs have increased in demand.
