With less than a month to go until the deadline for GLAS applications, it has emerged that the Department of Agriculture is a long way from achieving its target of 30,000 farmers.

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney revealed that 17,739 farmers have applied for the scheme in the Dáil last week and provided a county-by-county breakdown of submissions. He released the information in response to a parliamentary question from Fianna Fáil TD Eamon Ó'Cúiv.

Mayo has the highest number of applications at 2,143, followed by Galway and Donegal with 1,948 and 1,642 respectively. See a full breakdown in the table below.
