Export company Supreme Livestock will load up to 1,200 heavy bulls early next week for Libya on the approved livestock boat Sarah. The company – owned by the McCabe family – is now buying the final numbers of cattle for the consignment.
The order is for black and white bulls aged under two years and weighing 275kg to 500kg. Under the veterinary agreement between Libya and the EU, no quarantine is required for this type of animal but they must be in-test for TB. The shipment will also include up to 100 yearling heifers and in-calf heifers for breeding on Libyan farms.
Supreme Livestock is based in Co Louth.
