Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney must ensure that the Beef Forum works for farmers, said IFA president Eddie Downey. Speaking after a meeting with the Minister, following his reappointment, Downey said the forum must work to restore profitability, address issues on quality assurance specifications and winter contracts.
He also stressed the vital importance of live exports to provide competition.
In addition, the Minister must ensure that in the Agri-Taxation Review, key issues relating to farm income volatility, land mobility, transfer and on-farm investment are fully addressed.
