The Dealer has heard that there is a lot of interest in the upcoming vacancy in IFA for the returning officer/treasurer position.

Last week I reported that names that may be in the running for Jer Bergin’s replacement included dairy chair Sean O’Leary, farm family chair Maura Canning and Tipperary North chair Tim Cullinan. However, over the last week, I’ve heard current Galway chair Pat Murphy, who has been eight years on national council, will run for the position.

Another name I heard on my travels that could be in the running is James Murphy, the outgoing south Leinster chair.Recent presidential candidate Henry Burns is being touted as a candidate for James Murphy’s current South Leinster chair job, although Henry is keeping his counsel at this time.
