Tractors, a new round baler and an updated loader, along with a selection of backhoes, skid-steer loaders and mini-diggers, are just some of the equipment from New Holland that will be on show at this year’s Ploughing.

Gordon O’Sullivan, of Mc & S Agrisales in Bandon, said there will be plenty to see for every type and size of farming enterprise out there. The T5.105 four-cylinder utility tractor will be on the stand and it is targeted at the livestock and dairy sector. It is available with a loader and front linkage ex-factory. Gordon said: “It is an ideal tractor for working around the yard or in the field due to its manoeuvrability and size.” A smaller model from this tractor range, the T5.95, will also be on show.

Another four-cylinder tractor making its way to the Ploughing is the T6.145. This is the largest four-cylinder tractor New Holland manufactures. It has a rated power of 116hp and 145hp boosted. Gordon sees this tractor as a very popular model for a lot of farmers due to its versatility, power, size and wide range of optional extras. The biggest asset this tractor has is that it packs a powerful punch from a four-cylinder engine. For farmers with larger horsepower requirements, there will be a selection of models to see from the T7 range. The 150hp T7.190, the 165hp T7.210 and the 180hp T7.230 are all expected. These tractors are aimed at larger farmers and contractors with a host of optional extras available depending on the application they are intended for.

Boost

The six-cylinder tractors are all fitted with boost raising their engine horsepower considerably during work from the rated figures stated above.

For customers with deeper pockets and bigger power requirements, there are plans for a T7.315 HD to make an appearance.

In Gordon’s words, “this is a tractor designed to compete with the very high-end tractor brands out there. It’s a tractor aimed at large contractors and farmers with a lot of work to get through with the biggest of implements”.

The 300hp tractor boosts to 313hp with 270hp available at the PTO shaft. Gordon said: “This is an ideal tractor for a 6m one-pass, triple-mowers or something that needs a lot of power, either draft or PTO.”

Alongside the tractors on display will be the new R125B round baler. This has been redesigned from the ground up, according to Gordon, and is built to handle the heavy grass crops we are used to in Ireland. It has already been demonstrated this summer in various crops with impressive results.

The updated New Holland W170D articulated loader, which was brought to the market last March, will be a big crowd puller on the stand. This machine features a 45kph Ecoshift five-speed powershift transmission, with a torque converter. The Z-bar boom is made from 45mm steel. Power comes from a 6.7-litre FPT engine pushing out 197hp.

The other update to this loader is larger 26in wheels to suit contractors who want to use this machine on the silage pit or want better grip on slippery surfaces. There is no shortage of weight either, with the loader tipping the scales at 14.8t.

Gordon said: “We’ve had great success with this machine range. So far, they’ve been very reliable and we have sold very few parts for them which is a good sign of a machine. They are a real alternative to the big players such as Volvo, JCB and Komatsu. The biggest problem we have with this loader is getting them due to the demand across Europe.”

Other equipment on display will be from the construction division. The L110 and L115 backhoes will be on display along with a number of mini-diggers and a 218 skid-steer loader.
