In the US, dairy exports were up 34% to $509m (€447.9m) from May 2016.
US dairy exports accounted for 14.7% of US milk production in May. Imports were equivalent to 3.1% of US milk production.
May milk production in the US also increased.
Australia
Australian milk production fell almost 8% since this time 12 months ago. 2016/17 figures show a fall of 700,000t over the year-long period until season end.
Every month of the year saw a decrease of more than 7% in production, with July and October of 2016 showing a decrease of over 10% respectively.
