The IFA pigmeat committee is due to meet on Thursday 1 October after a couple of weeks of unrest. Last week it emerged that Colin Marry resigned from the committee while Howard McCollum and Tom Sherman stepped away. Marry, a progressive and talented farmer, nailed his colours to the mast, but the other two have been less decisive by only stepping away until tensions have eased. There had been murmurs from some corners that more could follow but it appears that support remains for committee chairman Pat O’Flaherty.
