Suffolk breeder Philip Byrne, Windgap, Co Kilkenny, had a day to remember when his ram lamb topped the South of Ireland premier sale at €11,000 last Friday. Remarkably, the ram is the first lamb Byrne has ever bred, having founded his five-ewe Limepark flock. The lamb was sired by Scottish national champion Cairness Achievement, and it was his breeder, Jimmy Douglas of the Cairness flock, who placed the winning bid.
