ISA All-Ireland Irish Draught Yearling Filly Final

A total of 13 fillies turned up in Roscommon for the All-Ireland yearling final for Irish Draught fillies, part of Horse Sport Ireland’s national showing championship series and also co-sponsored by the Hannon family.

Moving up one place to take the title was Crossmolina owner Bridget Devanney’s Fast Silver filly out of a full-sister to the prolific winner Elm View. Also promoted, from fourth place, was Richard Duffy’s filly by Gortfree Hero, whose stallion son Gortfree Lakeside Lad was also a winner last weekend at the IDHS (UK) national show. Taking third place was West Cork owner-breeder Sean Scannell with his Cappa Cassanova filly finalist.

Although the standard was mixed, judges Charlotte Moore and Jimmy Canavan were very impressed with their champion. “A very nice balanced filly, lovely walk, nice active trot, Not over big but she has the makings of a broodmare in days to come” said Moore. “I love this filly, I think she’s a lovely stamp of what we’re looking for in a Draught” added Canavan.
