The petition has been started by farming software company Herdwatch, who say the crowds enjoyed the Ploughing in Ratheniska so much that it should be brought back to the site for a third year.
Last week Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association (NPA) Anna May McHugh said there would be no confirmation of the location of 2015 Ploughing Championships until October 12 as negotiations are ongoing with site owners.
“I know that some people would like to have us back here but we have to talk to the site holders and we have negotiations going on with another possible site owner, so we want to speak to both of them to see what will happen,” she said.
